Rare 1955 (True 1st Edition) Sobriety & Beyond - SIGNED by Father Ralph Pfau (Early AA Alcoholics Anonymous)

• The First Priest in AA: Author Father Ralph Pfau (1904–1967), who initially wrote under the protective pseudonym "Father John Doe," is widely recognized as the first Roman Catholic priest to enter Alcoholics Anonymous, joining the program in 1943. • A Pioneering Icon of Recovery: Alongside AA co-founder Bill Wilson and author Richmond Walker, Father Pfau was the third most published early AA author. He dedicated his life to traveling, speaking, and organizing early spiritual retreats, capturing the essential "spiritual thread" necessary for long-term recovery. • The Pseudonym Dynamic: Because early AA heavily emphasized anonymity—especially for a member of the clergy—he originally published his works anonymously. This book, first published in 1955, is a cornerstone of recovery literature expanding on spiritual transformation. • The Rarity of the Signature: A 1st edition copy personally signed "Sincerely Father Pfau" or "Father Ralph Pfau" bridges his hidden pseudonym with his real identity. Because he was a highly sought-after traveling speaker, signed copies usually indicate personal interactions with early members of the recovery community at mid-century conventions or retreats. This book is not merely a rare printing; its a “Holy Grail” artifact for an Alcoholics Anonymous collector, from the era when AA was solidifying its foundation and expanding its reach across religious lines.
