Welcome to CollectorFish. CollectorFish is an online community and marketplace created for collectors to discover, discuss, request, list, buy and sell collectible items.
By accessing or using CollectorFish, creating an account, posting content, listing an item, responding to a Wanted post, purchasing an Insider membership, or participating in the Fish Market, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use CollectorFish.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into binding agreements to buy or sell items through the CollectorFish marketplace.
You are responsible for providing accurate account information and for keeping your account credentials secure.
You may not use another person’s account without permission.
2. What CollectorFish Provides
CollectorFish provides an online platform where collectors can:
- create profiles;
- participate in the collector community;
- post and respond to Wanted requests;
- list collectible items for sale;
- purchase items from other users;
- access free and paid membership features;
- receive Watch List and other site notifications; and
- use collector information and marketplace tools provided by the site.
CollectorFish is the platform connecting buyers and sellers. Unless explicitly stated otherwise on a particular listing or page, CollectorFish is not the owner or seller of items listed by users.
3. User Accounts
You agree to provide truthful and accurate information.
You are responsible for activity conducted through your account.
CollectorFish may suspend, restrict or terminate an account when reasonably necessary to protect the community, enforce these Terms, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with law, or protect the security of the service.
4. Marketplace Transactions
Sellers are responsible for accurately describing the items they list, including condition, authenticity information, provenance, photographs, price and any material defects or limitations known to them.
Buyers are responsible for reviewing a listing carefully before purchasing.
A seller’s description of authentication, provenance or certification is information supplied by that seller unless CollectorFish expressly states otherwise.
CollectorFish does not independently authenticate every item offered by users and does not guarantee that seller-provided authentication claims are correct.
Fish Market payments are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment provider.
Listings are free to create. CollectorFish currently charges sellers a 3% platform fee on the item price of completed marketplace sales, and the fee is shown before a sale is made. Orders that are refunded because they were not shipped are not charged the fee. These terms apply unless a different fee is clearly disclosed before a transaction.
Stripe’s card-processing fee is separate from the platform fee and is deducted from the seller’s share of the sale.
Sellers must ship and enter tracking within 7 days of the buyer’s payment. The shipping, refund and dispute rules that apply to Fish Market orders are described in the Marketplace Rules & Prohibited Items, which form part of these Terms.
5. Authentication and Collectibles
Collectible values and opinions regarding authenticity can vary.
Unless CollectorFish expressly states that it has independently authenticated a particular item, the presence of a certification company name, certificate, seller statement, badge, description or other authentication information does not mean CollectorFish has independently verified or endorsed that authentication.
The CollectorFish team reviews Fish Market listings before they are published. That review checks the listing; it is not an inspection or authentication of the item.
Users should conduct their own due diligence before completing a transaction.
6. Insider Membership
A CollectorFish account is free. CollectorFish also offers an optional paid membership, CollectorFish Insider, with additional site features.
The current advertised price is $29.99/year unless another price is clearly shown at checkout.
Payment and subscription billing are handled through Stripe. Insider is an annual subscription that renews automatically each year until you cancel. You can cancel from your Insider account page; after you cancel, your membership stays active until the end of the year you have already paid for and then ends.
Any renewal, cancellation or subscription terms presented during checkout form part of your agreement.
The 3% marketplace platform fee never applies to Insider memberships.
CollectorFish may add, remove or modify membership features over time, but will not intentionally misrepresent the features currently offered at the time a user purchases a membership.
7. User Content
Users may submit listings, photographs, Wanted posts, comments, profile information, messages and other content.
You retain ownership of content you create.
By submitting content to CollectorFish, you grant CollectorFish a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, resize, format and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote and improve the CollectorFish service.
You represent that you have the right to submit the content you post and that doing so does not violate another person’s intellectual-property, privacy or other legal rights.
CollectorFish may remove content that violates these Terms, the Marketplace Rules, applicable law, or the rights of others.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You may not:
- commit or attempt fraud;
- knowingly list counterfeit, stolen or illegally obtained items;
- impersonate another person;
- manipulate transactions, ratings or site activity;
- harass, threaten or abuse another user;
- upload malware or attempt to interfere with site security;
- scrape or misuse the site in a way that harms the service or its users;
- use CollectorFish for unlawful activity;
- misrepresent an item’s authenticity, provenance, ownership or condition;
- attempt to evade applicable platform fees through deceptive conduct; or
- list items prohibited by the Marketplace Rules.
9. Communications
CollectorFish may send service-related messages regarding your account, transactions, Wanted responses, Watch List alerts, security, membership or other features you use. These are sent by email and as notifications on the site.
Marketing communications, if any, will be handled in accordance with applicable law and available unsubscribe controls.
10. Third-Party Services
CollectorFish relies on third-party service providers for functions such as hosting, sign-in, email delivery and payment processing.
Those services may have their own terms and privacy policies. The Privacy Policy lists the providers CollectorFish uses.
CollectorFish is not responsible for outages or failures caused by third-party systems beyond its reasonable control.
11. Intellectual Property
CollectorFish’s site design, branding, logos, original text, software and other original site materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of CollectorFish intellectual property to users.
Third-party names, photographs, trademarks and collectible subjects remain the property of their respective owners where applicable.
12. Copyright Complaints
If you believe content on CollectorFish infringes your copyright or other intellectual-property rights, contact:

13. Disclaimer of Warranties
CollectorFish is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.
CollectorFish does not guarantee that the site will always be uninterrupted, error-free or free from harmful components.
CollectorFish does not guarantee the authenticity, legality, quality, value, condition or future resale value of any user-listed collectible.
Nothing in this section eliminates rights that cannot legally be waived.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CollectorFish will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from use of the service or transactions between users.
CollectorFish is not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate seller descriptions, undisclosed defects, counterfeit items, shipping carriers, actions of another user, or transactions conducted outside the CollectorFish platform, except to the extent liability cannot legally be excluded.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, damages or expenses arising from your unlawful conduct, your content, your listings, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights.
16. Changes to the Service or Terms
CollectorFish may update the service and these Terms as the platform develops.
Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, by providing additional notice.
Your continued use of CollectorFish after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
